The Leaning Tower Of Television

April 4th, 2011 04:42 am | by Ed |

I admit it. I am woefully behind the times. In this modern age of wall mounted flat screen 16 by 9 televisions my tv is an old hulking 4 by 3 box with a classic 27 inch CRT. I think that the thing must weigh in at easily forty pounds or more.

What's worse is that it sits on a sort of mini bookshelf slash end table on casters that I'm pretty sure was not designed to be used to hold something as heavy as my tv.

The tv has sat on this table for no less than ten years now and I'm thinking that sometime really soon I'm going to have to come up with a new arrangement because the tv stand / table is looking more and more like it's starting to lean to the right and if I don't move the tv to something stronger one day I'm going to hear a hideous crash as the table it's on finally collapses and the tv is destroyed.

Since in spite of the fact that I do not (in fact, can not) watch broadcast tv I do use it for watching DVD's once in a while and I'm not prepared to spend $200 or more to replace it then I really need to find something stronger to put it on. The only problem (aside from cost) is that there's only just so much room available. There's no way that I'm going to be able to fit something bigger in that spot.

I wonder if I should just get some plywood and a bunch of metal milk crates and cobble something together out of that.
