Minecraft -16- Branching Out

April 23rd, 2011 21:02 pm | by Ed |

I've taken some time and given some thought to the way I'm mining this mountain. While I still very much want to clear the entire thing all the way to bedrock, I have to say that I don't think I'm getting needed materials such as iron anywhere nearly quick enough. Right now it's pretty seldom that I have enough iron to use it for tools and when I do, it doesn't even last long enough to clearing a single 40x40 level.

Because of that I've decided to start a branch mine in a recent hole I dug in the pit when I mined out my last batch of iron. From what I've read on the Minecraft wiki, using this method I ought to be able to collect not only iron but also other resources such as gold, redstone, and of course, diamond.

Not very long after starting the initial 3x3 shaft for the branch mine, I ran into quite a surprise.
