Microsoft Designed UAC to Annoy Users

Microsoft’s David Cross was quoted as saying: “The reason we put UAC into the platform was ‘to annoy users. I’m serious.” This gem popped out at the 2008 RSA security conference

The apparent purpose of one of the most annoying “features” that any software maker has ever included in a program was to software makers to eliminate as many unnecessary privilege escalations as possible by getting users to complain about all the UAC ‘Cancel or Allow’ prompts.”

What the boys in Redmond didn’t count on was the lazy factor. Their ridiculous idea resulted in teaching people that all they have to do is ignore the “security warnings” and hit “Allow” without thinking about WHY they’re doing it.

Thanks guys, you’ve contributed to malware writers everywhere by training users to ignore security. I predict that Vista will become the most malware ridden flea-trap of an OS ever to boot up.
