As if the cost of an iPhone wasn’t steep enough already, I just heard about one that’s pretty much gone all the way over the top in over-priced, over-decorated, over-asinine custom design work for almost any electronic gadget.
It seems that Peter Aloisson, an Austrian Jeweler, is known for this kind of overextended art. He’s taken an iPhone 3G and well, turned it into something that nobody in their right mind would ever actually USE because of how expensive it is. I mean when you pay $2,517,345 for what is basically a freaking cell phone, you DON’T take it anywhere or let people see it because you’ll guarantee getting rolled big time. This thing could actually qualify as a genuine weight loss product because once you pay for it, you’re not going to eat for a dozen months of Sundays while you pay the thing off.
It’s made of 18 carat gold, a line of white gold around the edge that’s encrusted with 138 diamonds and to top it off, its home button is set with a rare 6.6 carat diamond.
I can’t imagine why anybody would want such a museum piece. Personally, I prefer the idea of having a simple, functional phone that does what I want it to do and isn’t an invitation to every thief in the western hemisphere.
