A Word Emergency?

September 2nd, 2009 10:03 am | by Ed |

According to some people / lawyers / whatever at Microsoft who may or may not be colossal fatheads in need of a lifetime supply of slim pills to burn the fat out of their brains, the need to ship Microsoft Word is an actual emergency.

At least, that's the story in this PC Magazine article. Personally, I doubt that it's that big of an "emergency" since as far as I know, there's actually fewer and fewer people USING MsWord these days. For example I personally prefer to just use Notepad or Notepad++ most of the time. And if I need anything fancier than that I'll get out OpenOffice.org.

Seriously, why bother with MsWord when OpenOffice.org is free and can read & write MsWord Files (and a whole boatload of others too)?
