Something that I've never cared for is the fact that by default, Windows hides certain files and folders from view. I understand that the reason is to keep the curious but uninformed from accidentally deleting or otherwise changing important system files.

A couple of days ago Microsoft made an announcement to warn users that if they installed IE8 Beta 1 prior to updating Windows XP to SP3 that they could be stuck with both SP3 and IE8 if they upgrade IE8 to the Beta 2 version release on 8/28/08.
